TFA AU Sketches

Months ago, I thought up of a TFA AU involving both alien invasion and a Cybertron where the Great War never happened, and the Groundbuilds (Autobots) / Warbuilds (Decepticons) live side by side in peace (insofar). The AU has several parents, including the peacetime AU, the idea that both Autobots and Decepticons fought Quintessons together before they turn against each other, and a WWII Human AU sketch idea where Ratchet (an American medic) and Megatron (a British soldier) found Blitzwing (a German child) among the ruins. I am still brainstorming for story ideas, and I’m really bad in creating engaging plots or characterization/worldbuilding.

The AU is still fuzzy in plot and characterization, and the only thing consistent is the idea that Ratchet (a groundbuild medic), Megatron (a low ranked warbuild commander) and Blitzwing (a warbuild soldier who are just activated no longer than weeks ago) are the main trio trying to return to Cybertron while evading the Quintessons. The AU could be regular Cybertronian version, or human version where the main characters are equipped with weapons and tools to fight the aliens.

I wrote some notes on the iPhone for the story points, and drew some sketches to get the scenes right. Some of them are just pre-war designs; others are just messy doodles of scenarios. I would not guarantee that I would necessarily continue to flesh out the AU. It is possible that I would end up dropping the AU, since war and scifi is not necessarily my niche. Still, when ever I have time, I would do more research and collect more inspiration whenever I have time.

On another note, my key drawings for the Graduation project is almost completed. I am planning to finish the rest of them by tomorrow, before returning the equipment by this Thursday.

Lunar New Year Sketches (insofar)

So today is the second day of the Lunar New Year, and during that time, I had drew some original sketches to get rid of my budding art block. It may or may not have succeeded, but the recent one prove a bit stressful to my right hand. More relaxation would be required.

In the first day, I thought of drawing some sketches of my robot OCs. Particularly, the bulky military robot OC Bruiser-bot (I need to find her a better name later). The first one is her being reprimanded during an introspection; the second one is her receiving stickers from a human girl for good luck during brawls. These sketches are mostly hypothetical, and I may drew more of my robot OCs in contradictory scenarios for exploration in the future.

In the second one, I noticed a lost of artists drew artworks of chickens as celebration. So I decide to join in and present two sketches of really humble quality: a sketch of a Chinese chicken family, and another with three robots receiving lots of red bags from a drone. I guess robots and anthros are still my comfort zone, better or worse.

On another note, I had achieved at least a minute of key drawings for the graduation project, and I may devote the rest of the week completing the rest of the key drawing. Also if I’m lucky, I might complete the rest of the environment BG, along with assignments from other courses. Wish me luck!

TFA Break Sketches

As I mentioned before, I had drew some TFA sketches to relax from drawing all the key scenes of final animation project. It sounded paradoxical, since my hands need rest and some needle therapy. I guess it’s a break from focusing on an idea.

For convenience, I had drew with a zebra-brand brush pen, and occasionally, I used red markers for emphasis. It does help me to make some fun sketches.

Maybe I will continue drawing more simple sketches during break from drawing key scenes. And as my term break has begun today, I have enough time to draw key scenes and homework for all day. So perhaps the blog may or may not provide more sketches soon.

TFA tumblr request: Rebuke

Few days ago, I drew some TFA fanart for relaxing every time I finished drawing key drawings for the Graduation Thesis. One of them is completing another emoticon tumblr request, with two TFA characters (TFA Alpha Trion and Sentinel Prime) this time.

Since the request involved one rebuking and one being offended, I thought that it would make sense of it’s Alpha Trion being the one rebuking, and Sentinel, being the incompetent jerkass, getting the rebuke as he deserved.

I’m not familiar with Alpha Trion’s character or design, so I had to look for references for better result. I also took reference of Sentinel as a Magnus, since it makes much more sense in the scenario.

Now I probably haven’t record the process or lost it somewhere, but anyhow, all I can show you is the result.

TFA tumblr request: Cheers

This month I had received 4 art requests, and 3 of them had to do with an gesture-based art meme made by Soupery. Today, for the sake of convenience, I took the time to complete a tumblr request, starring TFA OP and Prowl as a couple.

Now as I mentioned before in the last post, the Zebra-brand brush pen prove useful to me, so I plan to use it for the rest of doodling and art requests from now on. For the sake of accuracy, I had done some reference sketches of both characters’ Cybertronian form. It took me two days to complete the reference sketches, since there are many angles and structural research I need to do.

As for the sketch, I did some rehearsal sketches, before proceeding to draw the pencil drafts. The design and the composition prove a tad bit complex to me, since it involves one character enwrapped in another character.

Afterwards, I proceed to ink it. Initially I only plan to draw the lines. Then I drew some shading on the glass chassis to make it look more authentic, realized that it makes the sketch look better, and then proceeds to shade the entire thing. I finished it shortly before leaving home for school.

Now there are three more requests left. I have a pretty busy schedule this semester, and that some of the requests are quite tricky (one involved characters from IDW, which tend to have complex designs). This means that the rest of the requests would take a long time for me to complete, hopefully within this week, or after the entire semester.

2017 TF Sketches

So in 2017, there are several things I had faced. Aside from spending the first four days in Japan, I also had to apply for the maximum study load to fulfill graduation requirement. During the period, I had try to spend time letting my hand rest, although I had drew some sketches for either request or creative purposes. After experimenting with pens, including the fountain pen I bought from Japan, I found that the Zebra brand brush pen fits me the best. The brsuh tip is both soft and consistent, therefore easy to control and less strength needed.

Anyhow, here are the sketches. There are more tumblr requests now, so while I would begin school tomorrow, I’ll try to complete it within this week.
